The NID DAT 2027 Prelims is on Sunday, 20 December 2026 (offline). It's a two-stage exam: Prelims (a 0%-weight qualifier) and Mains, which alone decides the merit list.

Prelims results are to be released on16 February 2027 (M.Des) and 16 March 2027 (B.Des & Integrated M.Des). NID publishes no official syllabus; the 2026 paper was CAT-only (drawing/design).

What Changed in NID Recently?
Another undergraduate entry program has been introduced for 2027 at NID Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar & Bengaluru - the 5.5-year Integrated Pathway that awards an M.Des on completion. The 4-year B.Des continues at NID Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, and most probably at NID Ahmedabad as well.
The exam itself doesn't change, it's a same 2 stage process:
- DAT Prelims - 100 marks; subjective drawing section (objective section was removed in 2026 & may or may not reappear in 2027)
- DAT Mains - 100 marks; Studio Sensitivity + In-Person Sensitivity Test for B.Des/Integrated and Studio Test + Interview for independent M.Des.
